New recommendations for dump drivers after inquest into July 2015 death

The jury at a coroner's inquest into the death of a dump truck driver at a New Brunswick gravel pit is recommending all dump trucks have a rear-view camera.
That's one of several recommendations made by the panel to improve the safety of dump truck drivers around stockpiles following the inquest in Edmundston last month into to the death of 67-year-old Valdor Michaud.
He died of injuries sustained when his truck fell about 10 metres into a gravel pit in Drummond July 2015.
A release issued today by the province says the jury also recommended that vehicles stop at least five metres from the edge of a stockpile and that workers install orange safety cones at least five metres from the edge of the pile.
