1,300 daycare workers on strike in Montreal and Laval today
About 3,000 children will be staying home today as unionized daycare workers go on strike for the fourth time in Montreal and Laval.
The 1,350 workers have been without a contract since March 2015.
According to the union negotiations have progressed since the last strike, but there are still a number of issues, including retroactive pay hikes and the normal working week, where no agreement has been reached.
The 61 publicly-funded daycares are part of the Association patronale nationale des CPE (APNCPE) union.
A letter was sent to affected parents over the weekend advising them of the strike.
Union members will meet this morning to go over the latest report and decide on a possible unlimited general strike.
