23-year-old Quebec man wins $33M jackpot in Lotto 6/49 draw
A 23-year-old Quebec man is now a multi-millionaire after winning the entire $33M jackpot in Wednesday's Lotto 6/49.
Jérémie Gagnon, a resident of the Bas-St-Laurent region, north of Quebec City, said he was playing video games after his evening shift when he decided to check his lottery ticket online at two in the morning.
When Gagnon found out that he had won, he couldn't believe it.
"I'm going to wake up and realize it was a dream," said Gagnon.
Gagnon said he called his dad an hour later to share the news and then went to the dépanneur to validate the ticket at 5 a.m.
Gagnon said he has a lot of plans for his winnings, including quitting his job, travelling and learning English for his travels as well as buying the car of his dreams.
The dépanneur where Gagnon bought the winning ticket will get a commission of just over $336,000, 1 % of the jackpot.
