55-year-old becomes 18th pedestrian to die in Montreal this year
After being hit by a car in the early hours of Sunday morning downtown, a 55-year-old man has become 2018's 18th pedestrian to be victim of a deadly collision in Montreal.
The collision had occurred at around 2:45 at the intersection of René-Lévesque Boulevard and Jeanne-Mance Street. He was taken to hospital in critical condition shortly afterward, but he succumed to his injuries later on today.
Montreal police say that witnesses told them the man had crossed René-Lévesque on a red light, and was struck by a car driven by a woman in her thirties. She suffered nervous shock but was not taken to hospital. The investigation remains ongoing.
