75 deadliest days on the roads begins this weekend
The Fête nationale long weekend doesn't only mean the start of summer vacation for many Quebecers.
CAA Quebec says the 75 deadliest days on the roads is the period from now until the Labour Day weekend.
About 100 people die in accidents every summer, which amounts to 27 per cent of fatal accidents occurring during 20 per cent of the year.
The CAA report says the most common causes of accidents are "distractions, speed and fatigue at the wheel" followed by alcohol use.
The Sûreté du Québec says there will be additional patrols on the roads until July 2.
