A mother's quick thinking thwarts an attempted kidnapping
A mother out for a walk with her baby in Longueuil Tuesday afternoon was forced to fend off an attempted child abduction.
Police say the woman was pushing her baby in a stroller on Marmier street when a man approached her and tried to grab the child.
"Luckily, the baby was well attached (in the stroller). The lady managed to push him away by kicking him," says police spokesperson Jean Pierre Voutsinos.
Police say both mom and baby are fine.
The suspect ran away after the attack, heading in the direction of Desaulniers Boulevard.
He is described as a white male, around 35 years old..
He has dark hair, tied back in a ponytail, and was wearing black shorts, a red sweater and a black cap.
Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
