Accident near Bonaventure Expressway causes traffic congestion for festival goers
A 61 year old man is in hospital after he was hit by a car while driving a scooter along Pierre-Dupuy Street late Saturday night.
The accident occurred just before midnight near Chemin des Moulins not far from the Bonaventure Expressway.
Witnesses say the scooter driver struck the car, which had been travelling west along Pierre-Dupuy. Police believe the driver of the scooter may have either attempted to pass a car on the left side, or he may have performed a U-turn in the middle of the street.
The man suffered head injuries but police spokesman Benoit Boisselle says his life is no longer considered to be in danger.
The accident seriously impacted traffic for those leaving Osheaga and La Ronde. Pierre-Dupuy was closed for several hours between des Moulins and the Concorde Bridge, bringing motorists to a standstill. The road re-opened at around 4:00 Sunday morning.
