Another cold month will cost a little more on your Hydro bill

If you were one of the many who felt like January was bitterly cold, you were right and your next Hydro bill will likely have a couple extra dollars tacked on as proof.

As it did in November, Hydro-Quebec is warning customers that their January bill may be a little higher than usual thanks to the cold temperatures that hit many parts of the province.

The increase won't be that much; a spokesperson told the Journal de Montreal customers living in an average single-family home could see an extra $1 to $8 on their January bill.

Even if you left your thermostat untouched for the entire month, colder temperatures outside = using more energy to heat your home inside.

The good news, December was warmer than expected so customers saved up to $29 for an average home compared to the same time last year.
