Another weekend, and another round of road and lane closures
More bad news if you're trying to come downtown from the West Island this weekend.
The eastbound route 136 — the new road that's replacing the eastbound Ville-Marie Expressway, will be completely shut down from Friday night at 11:59 p.m. through Monday at 5 a.m., so that work can continue to demolish the old portion of the Ville-Marie.
That means motorists arriving on the 20 east and the Decarie south will be redirected to the 15 south, and onto the Bonaventure Expressway, to get downtown.
In addition, the 20 east in Montreal West will be closed between Exit 64 (the 138 east) and the next entrance. At the Ville-St-Pierre interchange, the ramp from the 138 east (from the Mercier bridge) to the 20 east will be closed off from Friday at 10 p.m. until Monday at 5 a.m.
Meanwhile, work will continue this weekend to install lights on the Jacques-Cartier bridge as part of Montreal's 375th birthday celebrations.
As a result, only one outbound lane out of two will be open between Friday night at 10 to Saturday morning at 10, from Saturday night at 10 to Sunday morning at 11, and from Sunday night at 9 to Monday morning at 5.
Inbound, one out of two lanes will be closed from Friday night at 10 until Saturday morning at 8, from Saturday night at 10 until Sunday morning at 8, and from Sunday night at 11 until Monday morning at 5.
On the Mercier Bridge, one of two outbound lanes will be closed on saturday, from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m., for road maintenance.
