Avoid westbound Ville-Marie, Ile-aux-Tourtes bridge this weekend

Some major road work is likely to throw a wrench in the plans of anyone looking to get to the West Island or Champlain Bridge from downtown.

Starting Friday night at 11:59 p.m., the westbound lanes of the Ville-Marie Expressway will be closed between Robert-Bourassa Blvd. and the Turcot Interchange.

As a result, the ramps to the 15 South, 20 West and 15 North from the Ville-Marie west will also be closed.

The new eastbound route 136 will be closed as well — all this, so that work can resume on demolition of the old eastbound section of the Ville-Marie.

Transport Quebec is suggesting motorists use the Bonaventure Expressway to get to where they need to go instead.

The highway is scheduled to reopen on Monday at 5 a.m.

Meanwhile, St. Jacques St. between De Courcelle and St-Remi remains closed until Tuesday morning at 5.a.m.

Also, the westbound (outbound) portion of the Ile-aux-Tourtes bridge along Highway 40 will be closed overnights throughout the weekend, as work continues to reinforce several pillars on the westbound side of the bridge.

Highway 40 west will be closed between Exit 41 in Ste. Anne de Bellevue, and St. Charles Blvd. in Vaudreuil-Dorion, between 11:59 p.m. Friday night and Saturday night, until 9 a.m. the following day. It will also close at 11 p.m. on Sunday, until 5 a.m. on Monday.

Motorists are being advised to use either Highway 20 or Highway 30 to head west instead.
