Bishop's student dies in fall in Dominican Republic

A Bishop’s University student died when he fell from  the fourth floor of a hotel in the Dominican Republic on Saturday.

22-year old Ben Houtman was killed instantly.

Another Bishop's student also fell and he remains in hospital recovering from head and leg injuries.

They were part of a larger group of students who travelled to the Carribean island last week.

Local police say the incident happened at about 2:45 a.m. Saturday but no other details are known.

The trip was not organized by Bishop's but a statement from the school says the dean of student affairs, Stine Linden-Andersen, has gone to the Dominican Republic to provide support for the students and family members.
