Body found in back seat of family's car at Hemmingford border crossing

The body of a man in his 80s was found in the backseat of a van early Sunday.

Border agents made the discovery at about 2:30 A.M.

The deceased was on his way back to Canada from Florida with his wife and son when it's believed he had a heart attack.

An autopsy will be performed to confirm the cause of death.

When asked, the man's family members said they continued on with their trip due to the high cost of healthcare in the United States.

Paramedics were called to the scene; they determined the man had been dead or at least two days.

Provincial police are investigating the incident. It's not known if the son and mother will face any type of criminal charge for trying to bring the body back into Canada.
