Body pulled from Rivière des Prairies

The body of a 25-year-old man was pulled from the Rivière des Prairies Sunday afternoon near the northeastern tip of the island, police said.

A passer-by made the macabre discovery just before 2:45 p.m. along the shoreline, just north of the corner of Gouin and Saint-Jean-Baptiste Blvds.

The Montreal firefighters, assisted by Urgence Santé, recovered the body.

Montreal police say the body is that of a dark-skinned man.

An investigation is underway to determine the causes and circumstances of his death.

According to a spokeswoman, police believe this is not a criminal act.
