Canada Post sued over slippery fall

A man from Rawdon has filed a $140,000 lawsuit against Canada Post, claiming he suffered a debilitating knee injury after he slipped and fell on ice in front of his community mail box.

Pierre Martel says he fell and tore a tendon in his knee when trying to retrieve his mail in March of 2015 and after undergoing surgery and physical therapy, he is unable to pursue activities he enjoyed in the past including hunting and cycling.

The Journal de Montreal says the suit is seeking compensation for medical expenses, loss of income, physical pain and moral damages, and loss of enjoyment of life. and claims that the crown corporation was negligent and careless in maintaining the area around the community mailbox.
