Cheaper TRAM fares next month thanks to decade old class action

A more than decade long fight will finally pay off for train users next month.

Back in 2007 a class action lawsuit was filed against the STM, AMT and Montreal's regional transportation authority following a maintenance worker strike that crippled train service for four days in May.

The strike forced trains to stop running during rush hour and at night.

Following a settlement of the class action over damages all Exo train users will be able to enjoy reduced fares for the month of October.

  • Regular monthly TRAM tickets will be reduced by $2.25
  • Student rate monthly TRAM tickets will be reduced $1.60
  • Reduced rate TRAM tickets will drop by $1.30

For OPUS + and OPUS + users, the discount will be automatically applied to a TRAM ticket on the night of September 10-11, 2018.
