Computer error may have inflated anglo totals, StatsCan says
Statistics Canada now says they will revise their 2016 census figures for Quebec.
They issued a statement today suggesting a computer glitch may have been responsible for some of the inflated numbers of Quebec anglos.
The agency says about 61,000 people may have been misclassified because of the glitch.
The statement suggests the revised data will be made available sometime next week.
The original census data showed sharp increases in the number of English speakers in Riviere du Loup, Rimouski and Saguenay — places not thought of as anglo hotbeds.
