Cote-des-Neiges-NDG votes against making parks smoke free

Residents in Cote-des-Neiges-NDG will be able to continue smoking where ever they have been.

A motion tabled by Snowdon city councillor Marvin Rotrand that looked to make parks in the borough smoke free was debated but ultimately voted down during Monday's council meeting.

The motion had the backing of a local petition and support from the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Tobacco Addiction Foundation and a dozen community organizations.

Several municipalities around C.D.N.–N.D.G have already passed their own ban on smoking in public places, including Cote St Luc, Hampstead, TMR and Montreal West.
