CSDM teachers to strike May 1
About 60,000 students at Commission Scolaire de Montreal schools will be getting an extra day of May 1.
At a general meeting last night the Montreal teachers Alliance union voted 77% in favour of the one day strike on International Workers Day.
The union, which has about 8,500 members, is demanding better working conditions and an improvement in the relationship between its members and their employer.
The walk out though will be considered illegal because one of the union's two current collective agreements does not allow its members to strike.
The Teachers Alliance will hold a press conference Friday morning to give out more details.
