The city of Montreal said it "will be happy" to name a park and part of a street in the name of Daisy Peterson Sweeney, who has mentored such musical greats as Oscar Peterson and Oliver Jones.
A city spokesperson told CJAD 800 that they've agreed with Peterson Sweeney's family to rename Charlevoix Bridge Park near the Atwater market and part of De Lévis Street in Little Burgundy after the renowned piano teacher.
The previous Coderre administration had promised a street would be named in her honour.
Mayor Valérie Plante had met with the family in mid-August to discuss options.
The city said they "are still working with the family for the next steps and all the details."
There is a now a new mural of Peterson Sweeney on St-Martin St. near St. Jacques, just east of a mural featuring pianists Jones and Peterson.
