Denis Coderre is ready to rumble in the boxing ring, but what about returning to the political ring?

Denis Coderre will fight in a charitable boxing match, but will he fight in the political ring again?

The former Montreal mayor has been training for the fight to raise money for the youth help group Les Princes de la Rue.

Coderre, who used to weigh 300 lbs., has lost a lot of weight, now down about a hundred pounds.

He met with reporters on Thursday to discuss the boxing match called "12 Rounds of Hope" to take place May 30 at MTelus.

But, what reporters wanted to know is whether he's planning a comeback.

Coderre shuffled around questions about a possible return to the political arena, saying running right now is not a priority.

"I'm having a lot of great challenges. It's not just boxing, it's to be the ambassador for the Jewish General Hospital Foundation, it's about working for Stingray, it's about working internationally because I'm a member of the Board of Directors for Eurostar."

Coderre failed to be re-elected in the fall of 2017.
