Downtown merchants' association offers valet parking, special app rates
The association representing downtown Montreal merchants, Destination Centre-Ville, is hoping to make life a little easier for motorists who want to come downtown, but are turned off by the near-constant roadwork.
It's implementing two new measures to that effect — a new valet parking service, which was put into place a few weeks ago, and will continue to operate on weekends for the duration of the work currently underway on Ste. Catherine St. It will cost $8, and will be operational on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., and on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Meanwhile, the association is also setting up the CityParking app, where users can reserve a private, underground or outdoor parking spot. Users will get free parking for the first hour, as well as a second free hour in the parking zones located near the work site, by entering the promotional code 'DCV2019' in the app.
The merchants' association says it will update the measures, or develop new ones, in the coming months, depending on how well things work.
Work on the first phase of the city's plans to revitalize Ste. Catherine St. between Bleury and Robert Bourassa Sts. is expected to continue through the fall.
