Dozens of Quebec schools to get new pre-K classes this fall
Education minister Sebastien Proulx announced the province will add 111 new pre-kindergarten classes for four-year-olds by this coming fall.
That would bring the overall number to around 400 by the end of August, with the focus on school in less well-off communities.
Speaking in Quebec City on Monday, Proulx says the government will invest an additional $130 million over five years for the new pre-K classes.
The money will be spent on education materials and training for pre-school teachers and staff, to assist the youngsters in getting used to a school environment.
