Drivers can swap their winter tires for summer ones today
Starting today, Quebec drivers are allowed to swap their winter tires for their summer or all-season treads, but they may want to hold off.
The SAAQ cautions people of a potential cold snap lying in the road ahead.
They say summer and all season tires may not be adequate to drive over ice or snow that may come with that cold snap.
Environment Canada predicts temperatures dropping to below freezing next week.
They expect a high of minus three in Montreal on Monday, the low will be minus 12.
Due to a Highway Safety Code change, you'll be expected to swap your tires back to your winter ones on December 1 rather than the 15th this year.
Anyone not using winter tires by Dec. 1 will be liable to a fine ranging between $200 and $300 as well as additional fees.
