Elevated levels of pollution detected off Verdun shore this summer
You may want to think twice before dipping your toes into the water from the dock off the back of the Verdun Natatorium on Lasalle Boulevard.
Water quality tests commissioned by the Journal de Montreal earlier this month found that levels of e coli bacteria were three times above acceptable levels.
The dock is a popular summer time swimming spot and is located about two kilometres upstream from the proposed site of a new riverside beach in Verdun.
A city official acknowledges that the reading may have been high, but a five year analysis indicates that the water quality off Verdun is generally within acceptable limits.
