Federal Liberals reject Alan DeSousa as St. Laurent by-election candidate
It looks as though Alan DeSousa's bid to become the Liberal candidate in the upcoming federal by-election in St. Laurent has been scuttled by the party.
A source claims the party brass has approved two other candidates for the riding, former Quebec Liberal cabinet minister Yolande James, and former federal Liberal candidate Marwah Rizqy — but not DeSousa.
The party did not give a reason for rejecting DeSousa's candidacy.
The longtime borough mayor of St. Laurent confirmed his intention to run for the federal Liberal nomination earlier this month, and suggests he plans to fight the decision.
The by-election to replace Stephane Dion will take place on April 3.
