Female officer to become second-in-command at Montreal police department
Simonetta Barth, a 28-year police veteran, will become the number two cop in the city this fall.
She will become the first woman to rise so high at the Montreal police force.
Barth, who now serves as assistant director of strategic management, was officially appointed to the deputy director's job on Wednesday.
She will replace Didier Deramond, who will step down on Sept. 11 to serve as chief of the provincial association of police directors.
