Firefighters battle two major fires overnight
Montreal firefighters were kept busy overnight battling two major fires at the same time.
First, crews were called to a blaze that broke out inside an industrial building on Forest near Ethier in Montreal-North at about 10:30 P.M.
According to one witness, a car rammed through one of the garage doors and caught fire while inside.
By the time firefighters arrived at the scene the flames had engulfed the entire building and spread to the two adjacent ones as well.
More than five hours after the five alarm fire began crews were still working to get the flames under control. Thick smoke filled the sky and the air and it could be seen from as far away as Saint-Laurent.
While the flames continued to burn in Montreal-North the fire department was called to a second major fire at a daycare on Cremazie East at the corner of Foucher.
The first call came in shortly after 2:00 A.M. with a fourth alarm called about 30 minutes later.
No one was hurt in either fire.
Montreal police have taken over the investigation of the blaze in Montreal-North.
