Flooding in the Beauce, other rivers under flood watch

Spring flooding has officially started.

In the Beauce about 15 homes and businesses along the Chaudière River were inundated over the weekend as ice jammed a large section of the river in Saint-Georges-de-Beauce.

Some owners woke up Sunday morning with about six inches of water in their basement.

The buildings affected are all located along the river's edge.

Civil Security officials were dispatched the region to assess the situation, which could get worse in the coming days.

Temperatures are expected to remain near the 10°C mark in the coming days and Environment Canada is predicting more rain throughout the week and into the weekend.

Melting snow, ice jams and heavy rain all mixed together have officials carefully watching several rivers across the province, including parts of the Saint-Lawrence River between Montreal and Quebec City.
