Fox spotted on metro tracks at McGill station

A photo of a red fox that appeared lost on the metro tracks at the McGill metro station has gone viral.

The photo was posted Monday morning on the Spotted: Montreal Facebook page, showing a young, crying fox standing in the middle of the tracks.

The STM says it doesn't know exactly how the fox got there, but a spokesperson does say it was captured by police on Friday.

The post suggests the fox had been wandering the metro system for days, but the STM isn't confirming that.

The transit agency says the animal was released back into nature, on Ile-Ste-Helene.
