Heavy Rain for Montreal and Laval Beginning Tonight

Get your umbrella ready, April showers are coming.

Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for the Montreal and Laval areas.

It's expected to begin late Tuesday and continue through the overnight hours until about Wednesday evening. The weather agency is calling for anywhere between 25 and 35 millimetres of rain, possibly mixed with wet snow.

The wind could also be a factor as gusts are likely to hit 80 km/h early by Wednesday afternoon.

Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.

Once the rain does end, temperatures will begin to drop overnight Wednesday into Thursday. The overnight low could reach -9°C, which might cause some frozen streets and sidewalks as you head to work Thursday morning.

The spring storm is being tracked as a weather system makes its way over the Great Lakes towards Quebec. Those living in regions north of the St. Lawrence Valley will see significant amounts of snow.

There's no major snowfall for the Montreal region, only a possibility of flurries on Friday.
