Hit-and-run near St. Laurent Metro leaves Florida man fighting for life
An American tourist is fighting for his life in hospital after being found unresponsive in a downtown Montreal parking lot early Saturday morning, police say.
Officers were called to a parking lot on St-Laurent St. at corner De Maisonneuve Blvd. around 2:15 a.m. where they found the 30-year-old man, originally from Florida.
He had sustained significant head injuries and was transported to hospital. He remains in critical condition.
Police say he was injured in a hit-and-run after reviewing nearby surveillance footage, but it is unclear if he was struck on the street or in the parking lot where he was found.
Investigators are hoping that combing through more footage will reveal an answer, according to a police spokesman.
St-Laurent Blvd. was closed most of Saturday for a block south from De Maisonneuve Blvd., but has reopened.
It is believed the 30-year-old Floridian was traveling alone.
