Home ownership in Quebec lower than rest of Canada
Quebecers continue to prefer renting to owning a home, when compared to th erest of Canada. That's according to new data from the Quebec Association of contruction and building professionals. Co-ownership of homes is also on the rise.
Quebec continues to lag behind with a property ownership rate of 61.3%, behind the Canadian average of 67.8%.
The rate of ownership also fell among Quebeckers aged 34 and under and sits at 64.5%.
The Montreal region also stands apart, with ownership barely over 54% - while it is only 37% on the island of Montreal.
In the regions, whenere prices are lower, home ownership rates reach as high as 70%.
