Icy streets and sidewalks: more than double the number of complaints from last year
If you found yourself complaining about the snow and ice this winter, you weren't alone.
The city of Montreal received almost 13,000 complaints between last November and last month, according to numbers obtained by the Journal de Montréal.
That's more than double compared to last year and nearly as many as the previous two winters combined.
The most common complaint to the city's 311 hotline: icy sidewalks.
Urgences-santé also noted a record number of calls for falls on icy areas in January and February of this year.
Several residents have filed claims for ice-related injuries - the city received almost 160 claims, about the same as in previous years.
Only a handful get compensation.
Last year, three people got a total of $10,600.
