Independent Investigators reviewing early morning police chase that sent one person to hospital

The Bureau of Independent Investigations announced on Sunday morning that it is opening a review of an early morning car chase involving Montreal Police. 

No much information was made available by police before the Unit moved in. The Independent Investigations Unit handles cases where civilians are injured or killed by police in the course of their duties. In this case, their looking into a chase that started around 3:30 Sunday morning in east end Montreal.

After taking police on a winding route of several streets, the driver of the car hit a tree at the corner of William-Tremblay and Joliette Streets. The driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. 

Other accidents were reported in the same area, including two vehicles at the corner of Frontenac and Sherbrooke streets. A third vehicle was struck at the corner of Rachel and Molson Streets.
