It seems Canadians are taking their time filing their federal income tax returns

Have you filed your federal income tax returns?

It seems Canadian taxpayers are in no rush to do so.

The Canada Revenue Agency reports only 11-million returns have so far been received.

29-million are expected.

The agency said it's no surprise since in recent years Canadians waited until the last minute to file.

Just under 90 per cent of taxpayers are expected to file electronically this year.

That's a jump of five per cent over 2016.

Taxpayers have until midnight on May 1 to submit their returns.
