Judge approves fuel surcharge class action against Air Canada

A Quebec Superior Court judge has approved an application for a class action lawsuit against Air Canada contesting the airline's fuel surcharge for international flights.

The applicant, Robert Choquette, contends that the extra charge is not in line with actual fuel costs.

The Journal de Montreal says he is seeking a refund and $100 compensation for every Quebec resident who booked an international flight on Air Canada, except to the United States, as of February 8, 2012 until a decision is rendered.
