Kidnapped 8-year-old found tied up, unharmed
An 8-year-old girl is home safe and sound with her family after she was kidnapped yesterday morning, while on her way to school.
A 54-year-old woman, related to the girl, allegedly approached the child wearing a disguise and used a puppy to try and lure her into a car.
“She was wearing a wig and glasses so the girl was not able to recognize her,” said Constable Stephanie Beshara, spokesperson for the Laval Police Department.
The woman is currently in a dispute over an inheritance with the girl’s parents.
When the young girl did not cooperate, police say the woman grabbed her, forced her into the car, and drove off.
Noticing her absence, the girl’s school administration contacted her parents, who in turn called 911.
Police were preparing to issue an amber alert, when the girl was found inside a car in the south shore town of Beloeil.
“She was tied up in the car,” Beshara said. “The woman was arrested and will appear in court later today.”
She faces charges of kidnapping, forcible confinement, and wearing a disguise with intent to commit a crime.
