La Presse to cut 37 more jobs
Management at La Presse told staff that 37 people will be laid off in the coming weeks — but instead of choosing names, the online news organization is seeking employees who would be willing to accept buyout packages.
If there aren't enough volunteers, management will select people to lay off.
Employees learned the news at a mass meeting at the Palais des Congrès Thursday morning.
La Presse, the one-time leading Montreal print newspaper, completed its switch to an all-digital format when it abolished its print edition in December 2017.
It officially became a non-profit organization earlier this year.
