Labeaume apologizes for autistic insult
The Mayor of Quebec City has apologized after he accused the opposition of being "autistic"
Régis Labeaume made the comments at a news conference Wednesday morning when he was asked about a byelection candidate's pledge to raise the speed limit on an area highway.
In his response, Lebaume said that speed limits are under provincial government jurisdiction and the opposition must be autistic if it doesn't understand.
The Journal de Montreal says Lebaume apologized for his comments a few minutes after the opposition issued a statement demanding one.
