Laurentians man faces dozens of child porn, other sex-related charges

A 33-year-old man is under arrest in the Laurentians and faces no less than 87 sex-related charges involving about 70 teenagers.

Simon Drouin was arrested Thursday in Mont-Tremblant, not far from his residence in the small town of St. Faustin-Lac Carré.

He faces charges of sexual contact, sexual assault, luring and child pornography charges. All the offences are said to have taken place between 2010 and 2015.

A Sûreté du Québec spokesperson says Drouin would typically go on social networks and dating sites to meet his alleged victims. He would strike up chats which would gradually become more sexually explicit, and in some instances, he managed to arrange meetings with his alleged victims.

His alleged victims, all male, are from the lower Laurentians, Monteregie and Montreal.

Drouin was arrested before for similar offenses, in 2016. At the time, they seized computer equipment from Drouin, which revealed a much larger pool of potential victims.
