Laval police arrest five alleged pickpockets
Laval police have cracked down on a band of pickpockets that have been operating in the greater Montreal area.
The five person crew would visit various restaurants, and while other customers were not paying attention, they would subtly pull wallets, phones and other items out of purses or coats that were slung over the backs of chairs.
The four men and one woman have been identified as: 29-year-old Walid Benaouda, 37-year-old Amine-Redha Kadri, 28-year-old Roza Zetchi, 23-year-old Anass Sanad and 47-year-old Abdelkader Bechou.
Investigators believe the group is responsible for about 100 thefts over the last year.
Police said their investigation continues.
