Major repaving job on Highway 20 starts tonight

The planned facelift for Highway 20 gets underway tonight and it's expected to last until at least November.

Crews will be repaving both the east and westbound directions of the highway between Highway 13 and Saint-Pierre Ave., forcing both partial and complete closures during the overnight hours.

While the Highway is closed Transport Quebec will use the opportunity to modify the ramp from 1st Ave. to the 20 west, extending it to the Norman St. exit.

Spokesperson Martin Girard said the extension will allow the many heavy trucks in the area getting on the Highway at 1st Ave. and exiting at Norman St. to avoid getting on the highway altogether, ultimately reducing the number of vehicles in traffic.

When officials close the highway completely marked detours will be put in place, with additional information available at Quebec511.info.
