Man in his 60s bitten by Longueuil police dog chasing down other man
Longueuil police are confirming a 62-year-old man caught between a police dog and its target was bitten and had to be hospitalized earlier this week.
Officers with police dogs were tracking a suspect on Rigaud St. Thursday night when around 9:45 p.m. police say the man made a gesture the German Shepherd took as a threat.
The man was bitten in the arm and thigh and was quickly taken to hospital, but has since been discharged, according to Longueuil police.
As for the suspect, a 27-year-old man known to police was arrested nearby on de Lyon St later in the evening.
The younger man has been charged with evading law enforcement and breach of prior conditions. He was released on a promise to appear in court at a later date.
