Man's life in danger following hit-and-run in Plateau

Police are investigating an overnight hit-and-run incident with confusing circumstances in the Plateau.

A 38-year-old man is in critical condition after being rushed to hospital, and police say doctors fear for his life.

A Montreal police spokeswoman says it's unclear why, but surveillance cameras show him walking into the middle of St-Urbain St. and laying down near Rachel St. shortly before 1 a.m.

Shortly after, he was struck by a black vehicle of unknown model or description. The driver did not stop, police say.

St-Urbain St. was closed between Marianne and Duluth Sts. while investigators gathered evidence.
