Man who allegedly kidnapped his ex and newborn arrested
Laval police say that a man who allegedly kidnapped his ex-girlfriend and 6-week-old child was arrested late Thursday night.
The drama began at about 1:00 P.M. near the corner of Bretagne and Fleur-de-Lys Sts.
Investigators said 20-year-old David Santiago Rodriguez saw his ex in a car with her mother. He then allegedly used a blunt object to threaten the older woman to get out of the vehicle, got in, and drove off with the woman's daughter and grandchild still inside.
The vehicle was stopped 90 minutes later, in the town of Gore, about 72 kilometers away. Rodriguez exited the vehicle and ran into a nearby wooded area where officers lost track of him.
The young woman and infant were still in the car, and were taken in by police.
After a manhunt that lasted several hours, Rodriguez was apprehended by provincial police in Lachute.
