McGill and Concordia walk-out planned over handling of sexual violence complaints
The student unions at Concordia and McGill have organized a walkout Wednesday to protest the way sexual violence claims against professors have been handled by the universities.
At McGill organizers are calling on the university to launch an investigation into the issue and a Stand-Alone Sexual Violence Policy. In an open letter the Students' Society of McGill University said it's an open secret some professors in the Faculty of Arts are known for their alleged misconduct, but little or nothing has been done to address the problem.
Organizers at Concordia are demanding student voices be heard and the recommendations from the Our Turn Report be incorporated into a reform of the Policy Against Sexual Violence.
Flyers for the event call on students to walk out of their classes at gather at the James Administration Building at 2:00 P.M. for a rally.
