Montreal company offers one-stop online shop to help fix emergency home repairs

Have you ever had a roof that started leaking, an overflowing toilet or a broken door lock and didn't know who to call for help right away?

A Montreal company has set up a one-stop shop online to help you out.

The free service which launched on Monday is called, appropriately enough, Help Mee.ca.

The website has a list of businesses in the Montreal and Quebec City areas: plumbers, roofers, electricians, locksmiths, disaster cleaners - all of whom pay to be listed on the site and who are pre-checked by the company, says co-founder Dominic Bouffard.

"Legal existence, we also check for the permits, the insurance, the complaints, the judgements, also the reviews," said Bouffard in an interview with CJAD 800 News.

And then among those who answer your request- usually in under 30 minutes - you can pick what you need. Then you get a notification from who's available and their estimated costs.

"When they answer, they put the cost so it could be an hourly rate or it could be an estimated cost depending on the request so you can easily compare them," said Bouffard.

"With the (online) platform you don't need to call one by one a business that can help you with your issues."

Bouffard said they plan on another service offering similar services in non-emergency situations and for small jobs.
