Montreal launching partial snow-removal operation Friday morning

The City of Montreal is launching a partial snow-removal operation Friday morning after about 15cm of snow fell on parts of the city.

Because the amount of snow varied across the island, snowplows and removal trucks will only hit the streets in nine of the city's 19 boroughs as of 7:00 A.M.

No parking signs will be posted on streets in: Ahuntsic-Cartierville, Anjou, Lachine, Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, Montreal North, Pierrefonds-Roxboro, Rivière-des-Prairies-Pointe-aux-Trembles, Saint-Laurent and Saint-Léonard.

"The atypical weather conditions the City has experienced since the beginning of winter requires special operations" the City said in a statement. The boroughs not involved in the snow removal operation will still see crews in the morning as they continue to spread salt and abrasives.

"The city is counting on the cooperation of everyone to facilitate operations."

You can track the progress of snow-removal operations on the city's website.

This is the first snow-removal operation of the season.
