Montreal police arrest suspected Westmount firebug
The Montreal police arson squad says it has arrested a man in his 40s on Wednesday morning in connection with three criminal fires set at or near a home in upper Westmount since last fall.
The suspect, in his 40s, was picked up at his home in St. Laurent.
The three fires in question happened at a home on Edgehill Rd., near the Boulevard — the first incident, on Oct. 18, 2018 saw two cars damaged in the home's driveway.
Another firebombing incident on Nov. 30 caused minimal damaged, but the third one on March 13 caused heavy damage to the ground floor of the house.
On Wednesday afternoon, police said they were in the middle of questioning the suspect. It's not known for the moment what, if any, relationship the suspect may have had with the home's owner.
