Mulroney smoothed way for today's Trudeau-Trump encounter

There is a report this morning that a highly experienced frontman laid the groundwork for today's meeting in Washington of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and U.S. President Donald Trump.

La Presse reports that former Conservative Prime Minister Brian Mulroney has had several conversations with Trump since his election in November and also touched base with an old acquaintance, Wilbur Ross, who is Trump's nominee for Commerce Secretary.

Mulroney was the architect of the North American Free Trade Agreement and Trump has put Ross in charge of renegotiating the deal.
